By the middle of the 18th century, French explorers had mapped the Great Lakes and the adjoining region in astonishing detail and with substantial accuracy. Their findings are recorded on this well-illustrated map drawn by Jacques-Nicolas Bellinin, chief cartographer to the French Navy. Bellinin spent 50 years of his career creating maps, which made him one of the most respected mapmakers of Modern Era. Some of the great Works of Jacques-Nicolas Bellinin are the maps of Canada and of French territories in North America. Dimensions: 15" x 19".
